Important Things to Remember When Scraping Your Vehicle
It is a legal requirement that at the end of it's life you dispatch your car to a vehicle recycling facility (authorised treatment facility) for recycling.
If the car is free from rubbish the authorised treatment facility must take it back. If they have to drive to you then there maybe a small charge
Once you have handed your vehicle over and with everything in order, then the facility must present you with a Certificate of Destruction, which means you no longer officially own the vehicle.
Doing the Right Thing
Over 70% of a car can be recycled. So just throwing it away is missed environmental opportunity
A car has many damaging materials, which, if dumped, can cause serious damage to the environment as well as be detrimental to human health. For example lubricating oils, break fluids, petrol and lead acid batteries can all pose a threat.
